Staubbach Falls pouring into Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland during the early spring melt. The falls are about 1,000 ft tall and out of the valleys numerous waterfalls is closest to the town of Lauterbrunnen.

Westward from Gimmelwald. Upper Lauterbrunnen valley is a UNESCO heritage site. The Tschingelspitz peak is shrouded in clouds on an overcast, lightly rainy day in early spring.

Looking down on upper Lauterbrunnen Valley from Gimmelwald, Switzerland. In order to prevent commercialized development, the residents of Gimmelwald had the town’s slope designated an avalanche zone. While nearby Mürren has hotels and tourist shops, Gimmelwald was spared and remains a sleepy mountain village with only a cozy hostel and a few bed and breakfasts.
