The Gokyo Lakes are a glacial-fed lake system made up of 6 different fresh water lakes. It is considered the highest fresh water lake system in the world at ~16.5k ft. The village of Gokyo sits on the edge of the 3rd lake, Gokyo Cho (in Tibetan) or Dudh Pokhari ("milk lake" in Nepali) seen on the right. The lakes are considered sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists.
